Around twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the area, generating wind gusts topping 109km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction

Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victoria's Storm Challenges

Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

• Hoppers Crossing suburb - various rescue reports
• Wyndham - nearly 180 emergency requests

During the peak on yesterday, more than 28k electricity consumers in the state were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both states.

Health Warning

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
