AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The mission focuses on "bizarre trials and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Material
Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This update also adds the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
